Paraty
is a privileged spot for the ecotourism: 80% of its area is environmentally
protected, resulting in incredibly beautiful landscapes: beaches,
rivers, waterfalls, mountains, animal and vegetal species. |
|
|
Paraty
bay is one of the most beautiful regions in the Brazilian coast,
and an environmental preservation area. Predatory extraction of
marine species is prohibited. The clear waters, surrounded by native
vegetation are ideal for sports practice such as diving and sailing.

Paraty’s
preserved woods feature most of the original Atlantic Forest vegetation,
protected by the steep hills of the “Serra do Mar”.
the Atlantic Forest includes an enormous variety of plants such
as orchids, bromelia , large trees like cedar and the local “Ipê”
and “Jequitibá”. Amongst the animal species
are monkeys, anteaters, foxes, deers, several birds and gorgeous
butterflies. |
|
Serra da Bocaina National Park is 134 thousand hectares, extending
over the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, more than
35 thousand of which are in Paraty. The exuberant landscape allows
to choose among several tracks, going through mountains, waterfalls,
desert beaches where the native forest encounters the seashore.
The routes can be followed on foot or on horseback, and some of
the beaches can only be reached by boat, through the sea. |

The
road between Paraty and Cunha is known as the “Water Circuit”:
The high mountain rivers give birth to waterfalls and cascades,
forming natural slides, pools and wells. You can’t miss
the gorgeous “Pedra Branca”, “Tobogã”
and “bananeira” waterfalls. |
