16th August , day of St. Roque: probable discovery of Paraty
1597
Expedition of Martim Correa de Sá , passing through Paraty on his way to Minas Gerais.
1600
Paraty starts to be mentioned in the Brazilian historic scenario.
1640
Transfer of the settlement of Morro do Forte to the present location.
1646
First construction of the chapel honoring Nossa Senhora dos Remedios , made of "taipa" (a mud and wood stick wall construction).
1660
Popular rebellion that suspended the political subordination of Paraty to Angra dos Reis.
1667
28 February: date of the Royal Letter granting the status of Village to Paraty.
1668
Beginning of the construction of the second Main Church.
1703
Construction of the Fort on the hill where the first settlement started.
Construction of the barrack of the Fortress of Patitiba.
1712
End of the construction of the second chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios, made of limestone.
1720
The Village of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios is annexed to the District of Sao Paulo. Construction of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Paraty Mirim.

Construction of the Church of Santa Rita.

16th January : date of the Royal Letter separating Paraty from the District of Sao Paulo, returning to be part of the Distrcit (State) of Rio de Janeiro.

Beginning of the construction of the mother church of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios (existing today).

Construction the Chapel in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores.

Paraty rises to the title of "condado" (county).
1822
Foundation of the City Hospital.

Paraty is granted the seat of a City.

Construction of the Waterworks of Pedreira.

Paraty is declared a State Historical Monument.
1950
Arrival of the first motor cars in Paraty, by Paraty-Cunha road: these are the first tourists from Sao Paulo.
