Lo que aparece como única excepción a la seriedad del formal drama entre los Aborigenes Americanos, es la Institución conocida como la Sociedad Koshare "los fabricantes de delicias", la funcion de este grupo, de los Indios Pueblos del sur oeste,es comprendida de diferente manera por los Etnologistas. Bardelier interpreta eso principalmente como correctivo social, por los accesos de risada. Originalmente parece que representava a los espiritus de los antepasados, com relación a los danzarinos ritualistas alegrando la tribu y com la garantia de Pasaje ininterrumpido a traves de la muerte. Siempre es supuesto que los Koshare son invisibles,y sus satiras no pueden ser llevadas a mal. Pero no hay ninguna duda quehay asociación simbolica entre ellos com la tempestad y el trueno y la fertilidad en el comienzo del verano, com la idea de la risa y la buena naturaleza Como beneficio mistico para la tribu y las cosechas.
La maquillaje blanca y negra de ellos como payasos, há sido usada desde tiempos inmemoriales, y es atributo de de la artimaña de ellos. Es el solido tributo de la mente de los Amerindios para el uso estetico del espiritu comico.

What appears as a single exception to the seriousness of formal drama among American aborigines is the institution known among the pueblos of the South-west as the society of the Koshare, the Delight Makers. The function of this group is differently understood by
ethnologists. Bandelier interprets it chiefly as social corrective through the whips of laughter. Originally it seems to have personated the Spirits of the Ancestors, in connection with ritual dancers, cheering the tribe with the assurance of interest uninterrupted by death. Always the Koshare are supposed to be invisible, so their quips cannot be resented. But there is no doubt also that there is symbolic association of their function with the fertility-inducing thunder-storms of early summer, and with the idea of laughter and good nature as mystically beneficial to both the tribe and the crops. Their black and white makeup, such as clowns have immemorially worn, and their antic behaviour, is the sole tribute of the Amerindian mind to the æsthetic use of the Comic Spirit.
